Ilana Omo Oodua UK Chapter

Ilana Omo Oodua UK Chapter (IlanaUK) is a freestanding Chapter of Ilana Omo Oodua (IOO).

Rules and Regulations adopted at the Emergency General Meeting on 19 November 2021

 IOOUK Limited is a company limited by guarantee, established to pursue directly, and exclusively
non-profit making activities devoted to the welfare and self-determination of the Yoruba

 IOOUK Limited shall raise funds, open bank accounts, and use funds to pursue activities approved by its members.

Residents of the British Isle who are of the Yoruba lineage and who share the same
aspirations as Ilana Omo Oodua are eligible.

Members shall pay a monthly subscription of £5.

A member may resign at any time in writing.

Overseer (Alagba) – watches over, fights for, defends, represents, and speaks for the
 IOOUK Limited.

2. Convener (Akọwe) – calls meetings, prepares minutes of meetings, and organises the
general day-to-day activities of the IOOUK Limited.

3. Finance Officer (Aniṣura) – collects and disburses fees, donations and grants, maintains a
record of income and expenditure, gives financial accounts at meetings, and files
financial returns in accordance with the law of the land.

4. Webmaster (Alantakun) – maintains the IOOUK Limited website, organises publicity, and
oversees publications.

The executive is elected yearly, but incumbents may seek re-election.

To actualise specific projects, IOOUK Limited may set up ad hoc or standing committees comprising of its members.

An account will be maintained on behalf of IOOUK Limited at a bank agreed by its members.

There shall be 2 cheque signatories plus the Financial Officer.
 IOOUK Limited shall commit 25% of its surplus funds to Ilana Omo Oodua to help sustain the parent body of its members.

General meetings shall be open to all members to attend.

The Convener calls a general meeting at any time or at the request of a member or
members and publishes minutes of meetings.

Quorum at meetings shall be 1/3 of the membership. Decisions are made based on simple
majority of attendees.

The membership may delegate any of its powers or functions to a committee of two or
more members.


‘The liability of each Director of IlanaUK Limited shall be £1’

Any funds or properties remaining after winding up or dissolution of IOOUK shall be
transferred to Ilana Omo Oodua.

Disputes amongst and between members shall be settled in good faith by arbitration.

Amendments to this document may be made only at the AGM or special general meeting.

Any proposed amendment must be submitted in writing and circulated with the notice of
meeting. To be successful, the proposed amendment will require the support of 2/3 of
those present at the meeting.
